AquaGen’s second sustainability report is ready
Here we share AquaGen’s sustainability report for 2023/2024 – our second report, and an important step on the way to showing that sustainability is a natural part of our everyday lives and our choices. Although the report is published a little later than planned, it marks a clear shift for AquaGen, towards more transparency around our sustainability work. We know that we are not finished – and that is perfectly fine. Sustainability is an area in constant development, and we learn along the way. The most important thing is that we have taken a firm step forward, and that sustainability has now been given a permanent place on the agenda in AquaGen. A work in development The report covers topics such as climate and the environment, resource use, animal welfare, social conditions and good corporate governance. It shows that we have already achieved a lot – but also that we have many areas where we need to improve further. Among other things, we have: Laid the foundation for an even more sustainable production of salmon and rainbow trout through our breeding work. Prepared climate accounts and a sustainability roadmap towards 2030, linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Reduced greenhouse gas emissions from fuels by 27% since the last report. Increased focus on animal welfare, fish health and a safe workplace. Reported according to the EU’s VSME standard – even though we are not obliged to report – because we want to take responsibility and be transparent. “This is AquaGen’s second sustainability report, and although we have come a long way, this improvement work is continuous and eternal. There are many sustainability challenges to address going forward.” – Trina Galloway, Head of Public Affairs and Sustainability We believe that honesty is the key to progress. By acknowledging that we have not reached our goal – but that we are on our way – we build trust both internally and externally. The way forward Work on the sustainability report for 2024/2025 is already underway. It will be further developed from the report we have today, to become more comprehensive and even more clearly show how we develop from words to action.
A work in development
The report covers topics such as climate and the environment, resource use, animal welfare, social conditions and good corporate governance. It shows that we have already achieved a lot – but also that we have many areas where we need to improve further.

- Prepared climate accounts and a sustainability roadmap towards 2030, linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
- Reduced greenhouse gas emissions from fuels by 27% since the last report.
- Increased focus on animal welfare, fish health and a safe workplace.
- Reported according to the EU’s VSME standard – even though we are not obliged to report – because we want to take responsibility and be transparent.
“This is AquaGen’s second sustainability report, and although we have come a long way, this improvement work is continuous and eternal. There are many sustainability challenges to address going forward.”
– Trina Galloway, Head of Public Affairs and Sustainability
We believe that honesty is the key to progress. By acknowledging that we have not reached our goal – but that we are on our way – we build trust both internally and externally.
The way forward
Work on the sustainability report for 2024/2025 is already underway. It will be further developed from the report we have today, to become more comprehensive and even more clearly show how we develop from words to action.
